Technical
Technical questions
What's the difference between Tesla Wall Connector and NEMA 14-50?
Tesla Wall Connector is a hardwired charger that provides up to 48 amps of power for faster charging (up to 44 miles of range per hour). NEMA 14-50 is a 50-amp outlet that works with the Tesla Mobile Connector, providing up to 32 amps (about 30 miles per hour). Wall Connector is permanent and faster; NEMA 14-50 is more versatile and lower cost.
How do I know if I need a panel upgrade?
Signs you may need a panel upgrade include: tripping breakers, a panel over 20 years old, 100A or less service, or planning to add EV charging, pool equipment, or other large loads. We offer free assessments to evaluate your panel's capacity.
How long does Tesla Wall Connector installation take?
Most installations are completed in 4-6 hours. If your panel has sufficient capacity and the charger location is within 30 feet, we can typically complete the installation in a single day. Panel upgrades add 1-2 additional hours.
How long will I be without power during a panel upgrade?
Most panel upgrades require 4-8 hours without power. We schedule the work to minimize inconvenience and can coordinate with Austin Energy for same-day reconnection in most cases.
